Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers are a very popular treatment as they can transform your smile instantly. A veneer is a thin but strong tooth-coloured shell fixed to the front of a tooth to mask discolouration, shape of the tooth, damage or small gaps.

Veneers are usually fitted to the front upper and lower teeth and are made of ceramic, porcelain composite material.  They can instantly give you confidence with your smile.

The Procedure for Dental Veneers

How long do veneers last?

Veneers should last for around 10 years, with most veneers  lasting up to 20 years or more with proper oral care and regular dental check-ups. Avoid biting your fingernails, chewing on ice and pen caps because this can damage your veneers. In some cases, they can fail in a short period of time, especially in Bruxists (patients who grinding their teeth or have excessive wear as a result of some underlying cause).

Aftercare for Dental Veneers

After the fitting of veneers, it is important to keep your veneer well-maintained with regular brushing and flossing. Although veneers are resilient, it is important to treat them with care, so try not to bite your fingernails or chew pen tops or use your teeth to open anything. Also, it is probably best to steer clear of very hard foods that could cause damage to the veneer.

Your dentist will show you how to keep on top of your dental hygiene and how to keep your dental veneers looking healthy.
