Dental Hygienist in London
They say Prevention is better than Cure. With our regular Dental Hygienist Tooting Bec maintenance visits, we are able to ensure that we can prevent unwanted Dental-related problems and Gum disease.
We have a professional Hygienist who is dedicated to assist our patients with having cleaning and polishing. The treatments offered at our practice enables patients to choose from the wide range of treatments at our practice, based on their personal needs and preferences.
Plaque and Calculus causes gum disease (Gingivitis and Periodontitis) and causes tooth loss. Our hygienist would design a treatment plan (individual to each patient), and this would be in aim to minimise the risks and prevent these unwanted disease processes and tooth loss.
An important aspect of the hygienist’s role is to also give you information on how to look after your teeth at home, so they remain free from plaque. You would be advised on the best brushing technique and given tips on flossing and using interdental brushes. Fissure sealants may also be applied by the hygienist if appropriate and upon request of patients.
At our practice, we are proud to offer a wide range of services. Please see our Fee guide on the different types of cleaning and Polishing and Gum disease treatments we offer. Please note that you may need more than one visit subject to assessment by our Hygienist/Dentist.
Prophy/Air Polishing Cleaning
- This is a very advanced procedure, where the Hygienist uses a special machine that combines ‘Sand, Water and Air’ to remove surface stains from the teeth.
- An Ultrasonic scaling may also be done in this visit if required and advised by the Hygienist.
- Sometimes more than one visit is advised to remove stubborn or vast amount of stains especially between crowded teeth.
- Please see our fee guide full list of fees
- This is not a whitening procedure (see below)
Ultrasonic Cleaning
- An oscillating or vibrating tip is used to remove the calculus build up close to the gum margin
- This can sometimes lead to sensitivity of the teeth being experienced either during and/or after the cleaning is done.
- Please be sure to let your Hygienist know if your teeth are sensitive or if you prefer some Local Anaesthetic (numbing injection) before any treatment begins.
- You may require more than one visit subject to the Hygienists advice
Whitening Procedures
- This is a procedure where a Gel is used to make the teeth whiter by attempting to remove the stains inside the teeth.
- A clinical consultation for Whitening Suitability Assessment is required to be carried out first with our dentist, as not all patients are suitable for whitening procedures
- There are three types of Whitening procedures:
- In Surgery (High concentration Gel and done by the dentist in the surgery)
- Take home (Trays are used with low concentration gel for patients to use at home).
- Combination Technique (Both of the above for best possible results)
